What is Frankincense?

Frankincense is harvested from the sap of the Boswellia tree that is found mainly in Somalia, Southern Arabia, and Ethiopia.

The oil that is distilled form this resin is often regarded as on of the gifts that was given to Christ at his birth. In fact there are more than 52 references to frankincense in the Bible.

Frankincense is a holy oil in the Middle East. As an ingredient in the holy incense, it was used anciently during sacrificial ceremonies to help improve communication with the Creator. In medicine it is used as a treatment for asthma, depression, and ulcers.

Primarily frankincense is used in perfumes and as an essential oil in aromatherapy.
